A short while ago I created a group on Facebook titled: Restaurantsin Malta:The Good; The Bad; The Rip-Offs.
The purpose of this group is to give members a medium through which they can voice their personal opinions with reference to the quality of food, service and pricing in restaurants in Malta, and to create an awarness for excellence, both as demanded by clients as well as that which should be given by restaurateurs.
Posts must be sent in from bona fede patrons from own experience, good or…

My blog 'In Search of Nirvana' is all about my move from the UK as an expat to the sunny Maltese Island of Gozo. I have enjoyed writing it very much, I sometimes have a problem trying to think of something worthwhile to write about. I normally manage one or two posts a week. The blog has a small following and I get a respectable 500 hits each month now which considering I make very little attempt to drive people to the blog is quite reasonable. Now the question is could I justify starting a seco…

Hopefully back in Malta later this summer. May I wish all a Happy and Peaceful Easter. Noticed that although a credit crunch its estimated 10million will be going away for holidays this Easter. As the pound is somewhat down against the Euro many Brits are either taking long haul or holidays outside of the euro zone. Popular being Turkey and far East and of course the USA. At present there is no evidence that large numbers will be staying home for their holidays. It would seem that those affected…

Fuq fomm il-bejjiegħa tal-ħwienet tara tbassira mdejqa, fuq fomm il-konsumaturi tisma fejn l-aktar li ser tiffranka, u f’qalbna naħsbu li dan il-Milied jista’ jkun differenti minn snin oħra.
Jumejn ilu ftaħt ir-radju u nisma konsumatur jistaqsi kemm jaħli units dawl sett bozoz tal-Milied, ħaġa li skantatni. Illum ħadd ma jrid jaħli, il-ħwienet din is-sena damu jew se jdumu biex ibigħu affarijiet tal-Milied, li issa jidhru bħala żejda f’għajnejn xi wħud. Din is-sena jew traħħas jew tibqa’ bihom…

Qeghdin sew f'dal-pajjiz. Ghandna regim imexxi b'maggoranza relativa u minoranza elettorali fil-pajjiz. Kellna lil Joe Saliba jobzoqha li sakemm ikun hemm xibka ta' nies imqeghdin f'postijiet strategici li jistghu jinfluwenzaw l-opinjoni pubblika jibqghu imexxu lil dan il-pajjiz. Ghandek lil dan l-istess joe saliba li jiftahar li l-means justifies the end, li l-operetta ta' JPO ghamilha , anke jekk forsi wkoll kien jaf li JPO ma kienx qed jghid il-verita' kollha u dan ghamlu ghax ried jaccerta r…

Every so often I get these outbursts of inspiration which only last for a few minutes. Trying to remember the exact words is almost impossible, its like trying to remember the exact route step by step from here to Rome. So I usually keep my notebook and the usual HB pencil to at least jot down some notes. The only problem is time. I seem to be obsessed by it and the more I think about this phenomenon the more anxious I become, thinking that there is not enough time.
So the dilemma here is only…

So I ended up looking at whatever is around me in a totally different way, if it is a rock , an old wooden (door which I must admit attracts me like the attraction a of planet earth and the moon), anything that comes within my range. Visiting Valletta or Mdina or the Cittadella in Gozo gives me so much energy that I don't manage to resist the temptation of capturing good shots at different angles. Malta is full of these places and I must admit that I only wish I could carry my EOS with me more f…

This picture seems to have been taken by someone animated with religious ardour. Nothing can be further from the truth... First off, I hate processions. A close second, I hate standing for long periods of time...in the cold and hungry. So the combination of both did not make me a ve…

Decided not to cross to Gozo on Friday but today. Reason being that
I do not want to wait for hours on a Friday evening to cross over to
Gozo with all the cars coming to Gozo for the Carnival festivities.
However I still found myself waiting. Parked the car in the Q and went
for a coffee at the Cirkewwa Cafe'. That is the place where one meet
other impatient Goz…
